Wednesday December 22, 2010 at 9pm PST, Swoop’s World is happy to welcome Steve Soest a local musical talent that has been playing with and repairing guitars for many of the greatest musicians around for the past few decades.

Our bi-weekly LB Food Review segment featuring Chris Livingston and Taylor Nelson follows Steve. We will get the latest on good eats in the LBC and find out what’s in the works for LB Food Review in 2011.

Steve Soest is a musician, songwriter, luthier and vintage guitar connoisseur. He is an accomplished guitar technician with over 30 years of experience in the repair, modification, restoration, and construction of both vintage and new guitars. Soest works closely with Fender Guitars So Cal Service Center and is a consultant with Fenders Custom Shop and Artist Endorsement Programs. Steve has a distinguished client list including many of the worlds greatest guitarists: Brian Setzer, David Hidalgo, Dave Mason, Van Halen, The Rolling Stones, and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Musician Barry Rillera and Aliye Aydin of Beach Greens Visit Swoop’s World

On Wednesday December 15, 2010 at 9pm PST our guests are musician Barry Rillera and Aliye Aydin of Beach Greens.

Barry Rillera, who joins us during our first hour, is a music vet in the truest sense of the word. After graduating college and teaching grammar school for two years, he went on the road with two hometown friends, The Righteous Brothers, and never looked back.

In a touring career with The Righteous Brothers, which spanned some 30 years, he served as their lead guitarist, bandleader and tour manager.

During some quiet periods in their career, Barry took time off to tour with two bands of which he was particularly proud – Ray Charles (one year) and the Southern R&B/ Rock Group, White Trash. Read more »

Interview with Kelly Fitzgerald on Swoop’s World Radio

On Wednesday December 1, 2010, at 9pm PST Swoop and Peter welcome Kelly Fitzgerald as their guest on Swoop’s World Radio. Tune in as we get to know and learn about this hard working, talented musician who has performed around the world.

Playing well over 200 nights a year, Singer/Songwriter Kelly Fitzgerald has toured all over the world as a solo and ensemble performer. She and her band have shared stages with artists such as Shelby Lynn, Nancy Griffith, Cheap Trick, Eddie Money, The Gin Blossoms, Vonda Shepard and many more.

Kelly is known for her soulful style, which is a blend of folk, blues and rock. Influenced by Billie Holiday, Ricky Lee Jones and Led Zeppelin, Kelly’s voice has been likened to Bonnie Raitt, with a contemporary comparison to Melissa Etheridge and Sheryl Crow. Two Recent Guests Playing @ Blue Cafe in December

Two of our recent guests are slated to perform at the Blue Café over the next couple of weeks.

On December 5th @ 10pm our friend Raspin Stuwart will be on stage at the Blue Café. Raspin was our guest on October 13. Raspin released his first CD, “We Do What We Do” and is getting rave critical review. His ten track CD, produced by Raspin, Roger LaRoque, and mixed by Jeff Gold; and mastered by legendary Bernie Grundman himself.

On December 11th @ 11pm The Band Channel 3 will be appearing at the Blue Café. Kimm Gardener of Channel 3 is a recent guest of Swoop’s World. On Tuesday November 23, 2010 Swoop’s World opens up the studio for a special Tuesday night broadcast. Swoop and Peter welcome the man of many hats, Bill Grisolia in to learn of his current conquest, front man for the L.A. Music Awards nominated band New Blues Revolution. To make sure it’s a special broadcast on all levels we’re bringing in our favorite “Special” Team of Chris and Taylor for the bi-weekly LB Food Review segment.

You know Bill Grisolia, a legal and policy specialist, for his run for Senate. You may also know him as an advocate for the homeless and as former owner of the Island Sunfish Grill in Shoreline Village. But have you heard him sing?

Bill Grisolia is now heading up as lead vocalist of the band New Blues Revolution. Nominated for Best Blues Single of the Year by the L.A. Music Awards for 2010, New Blues Revolution continues a long winning streak. On Wednesday November 17, 2010, at 9pm PST Swoop and Peter welcome Kimm Gardner of CH3 and Ryan Smolar of LimelightLB to Swoop’s World Radio.

It was the early ’80’s- Friends since the third grade, Mike Magrann and Kimm Gardener soon found the inevitable guitars in their hands, though with no real idea of what to do with them. However, with their shared appreciation of a wide range of music (along with their endless quest for free beer), it wasn’t long before an early version of CH3 was blasting out Blitzkrieg Bop at a kegger.
