This week-Getting the Dope on Medical Marijuana

On Wednesday August 25 at 9pm (PST) it’s going to be another great episode of The Buzz with Ray Pok! This week Swoop, Peter, and Ray take on the medical marijuana debate.

With the abundance of medical marijuana dispensaries popping up throughout various cities and counties we decided to delve into the dilemma politicians are facing and sometimes-hypocritical debates that take place.

We all have heard and seen the stories of city governments licensing and allowing the dispensaries to open, only to vote a year or so later to close most of them down, and highly taxing those that are allowed to remain open.

It seems that some cities have decided to accept the fact that these businesses are medical facilities but for the purpose of hopefully charging the owners and potential owners exorbitant application and licensing fees in an effort to help create quick revenue and potentially solve budget deficits. On Wednesday, August 18, 2010, @ 9pm (PST) Swoop’s World Radio will be discussing “The Business of Art”. We will be exploring events from the view of the Artists that set up to sell and perform with the hopes of gaining recognition and turning a profit.

Together we can learn what makes a successful event for the Artists. We’ll discover which events are successful and how to assure that certain criteria’s are in place so that any event has the maximum potential to benefit the participants as well as the organizers. Read more »

This Week Photographer Donna Santisi and The Boys From LB Food Review

On Wednesday August 4, 2010 at 9:00 pm (PST), we are happy to have Photographer Donna Santisi join us this week as we take a look at her new book, “Ask The Angels”. Tune in as we learn what life was like capturing the L.A. Punk scene at some of the most storied clubs during the 1970’s. Donna shot pictures of and got to many of the artist she shot, including Patti Smith, Joan Jett, X, the Ramones, Blondie, and the Go-Go’s to name a few.

Also the stomachs behind LB Food Review, Chris Livingston and Taylor Nelson, our partners in fun and food join us again. A segment that is sure to be abounding with laughter.
