Charles Connor

On Wednesday June 19, 2013 at 8pm/PDT (10pm/CDT, 11pm/EDT) we are happy to welcome legendary drummer Charles Connor to Swoop’s World Late Night. Connor is best known for being the original drummer for Little Richard. He has throughout the years played with many well known artists.  Connor is also credited with creating a unique style of drumming that can be heard used by some of the most influential rock drummers to this day.  Join us as we have a chance to get to know Charles and learn about his life and experiences, people and, music that influenced him.  We will also be joined in studio this week with a very special return of past guest and guest co-host Stacy Lupinacci. Stacy will join us to guest co-host again and it’s sure to be a fun time. Charles Connor
Charles “Keep-A-Knockin” Connor, original drummer for Little Richard, created the unique “Choo Choo Train” style of successive eighth notes with a loud backbeat used by nearly all subsequent Rock ‘n’ Roll drummers and, in fact, his drumsticks are on display at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland, Ohio.

Inspired by such notables as Bob Alden, Art Blakey, Charles Otis, Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich and Max Roach, Connor dreamed big and diligently spent all his spare time working towards his goal of becoming “a professional drummer.” His hard work paid off at age 12 when he began playing drums for local parties and wedding receptions, but his “professional” career began at 15 when Roy “Professor Longhair” Byrd hired him as a last-minute replacement for the 1950 Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

At 18, Connor joined flamboyant Little Richard’s original road band, The Upsetters, his joy marred only by the deep racial intolerance the band had to endure. Connor says, “[Black] musicians back then didn’t have Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to motivate them. We had to find inspiration from our faith and within our hearts.”

When Little Richard “retired” for the ministry in 1957, legendary performer Sam Cooke took over The Upsetters and Connor again toured the United States. During breaks between bookings, Connor toured with other talented artists like Jackie Wilson, the original Coasters, and “Big” Joe Turner. He recorded with “Champion” Jack Dupree, Larry Williams, Don Covay, “Papa” George Lightfoot, Christine Kitrell, Larry Birdsong, and Dee Clark.

Multi-talented Connor is now an Active Musician, Songwriter, Entrepreneur, does Voice-overs, gives Private Drum lessons and makes Personal Appearances. He’s also a Motivational Public Speaker with several issues particularly close to his heart, like sharing his experience and anecdotes on the African and down-island origins of Black popular music to stimulate public awareness and appreciation of Rock ‘n’ Roll and Rhythm and Blues.

His influence and distinctive four-bar drum intro can still be heard on such songs as Led Zeppelin’s “Rock ‘n’ Roll” from the “Led Zeppelin IV” album.

Brent Michelle

Brent Michelle was born in Mexico City, Mexico. Her family relocated to Florida at the age of 9 and alongside her competitive gymnastics career, she started performing in her school choir and musical theater shows. Brent found her inspiration and love for music through her grandpa, who loved singing opera, and her mom, a music teacher, who made her passion for singing evident in the household and rightly so, passed it along. She found a true love for the stage during her teenage years, welcoming discipline, determination and creativity into her theatrical world. She picked up her mom’s guitar at the age of 16 and played three notes for a few months. Thankfully, her parents and sister didn’t complain about the never-ending three note practices, so she didn’t stop. At 18, after learning a few more notes, she wrote her first song, originally a spur-of-the-moment poem, performed it with a couple of harmony-friendly friends and placed third in a high school talent show.

Brent Michelle’s focus during her college years veered away from music and more toward her academic career (and of course, social life), but she did manage to buy a hand-me-down black guitar which excitedly accompanied her to Los Angeles. She moved to L.A. in the summer of 2008 after graduating and started performing in open mics for fun. She loved being back on stage and began to pick up some gigs and perform in different venues around Los Angeles, Florida and New York City. She released an EP in 2010 under the name “Michelle Brent”. Michelle is her middle name and that is what she grew up being called, until she was finally brave enough to switch to her first name, Brent. Usually accompanied by John Gannon on the cajon, she currently performs in local favorite venues like The Hotel Cafe, The House of Blues, The Mint and Room 5. Brent met John through a mutual friend a few years ago (they keep losing count), hit it off right away, and have shared the stage since. Brent Michelle, alongside John also had a three month residency at the Sheraton Delfina in Santa Monica.

Brent has been featured in showcases with Planet L.A. Records, Hollywood Music In Media Awards, Studio City Sound (with Grammy winner Tom Weir), L.A. Women in Music, UCLA Relay for Life, amongst others.  She also showcased in SXSW in 2012 with GoGirls, Music Gorilla and Planet L.A. Records.

RAMEKEGA
RAMEKEGA is a California-based alternative band, which was officially formed in September 2007 by singers/songwriters/sisters MELISSA (lead guitar, keyboards, vocals), KELLI (rhythm guitar, keyboards, vocals) and GABRIELLE POZON (drums, percussion, vocals).

Considered to be one of the most prolific and eclectic bands in recent times. The group’s body of work is rooted in many genres: Indie, Alternative, Folk, Jazz, Blues, Rock, R&B, Pop, Electronica, etc., and often incorporating classical, retro, and other musical elements in innovative ways.

And while various media sources have given the band critical acclaim for their live performances, it’s primarily been the audiences’ (and other artists’) support that have certainly propelled the band to it’s current status as one of the most “must-see” bands in recent times.

Jus Rhyme

MTV and VH1-featured emcee and DJ, Jus Rhyme, moved to Long Beach from Los Angeles in September of 2012, looking for a change of pace.

“I was tired of the Hollywood scene,” says Jus. “I was looking for a place where artists and activists regularly gathered to network, share ideas, and have a good time. Long Beach felt right.”

Since rising to national and international prominence on VH1′s “The (White) Rapper” show in 2007, Jus has been busy as an artist/activist traveling the United States creating People’s Parties as one-off events. He hopes to popularize the Party as a monthly gathering in Long Beach.

“The concept of The People’s Party is simple,” Jus recalls. “No cover, cheap drinks, all-request DJ, and free tabling for artists and activists. I see my role as host – the party is really about the people of Long Beach and what they want to see and experience in the space.”

Jus began The People’s Party as a house party among friends, but his unique combination of receiving music requests live over text message and his regular collaborations with local artists and activists demanded a bigger venue.

Long Beach dive-bar staple, Ashley’s Bar & Grill (established in 1938), took notice and invited Jus for a residency the last Saturday of the month.”Ashley’s was the perfect fit,” Jus said. “It is already recognized as a community venue; good food, cheap drinks, relaxed atmosphere. I’m just bringing the party.”

On June 8, 2013 Paralympian Angela Madsen leaves for her TransPac Solo Military & Veteran Tribute Row from California to Hawaii. Angela has been a guest on our show on several occasions and has a remarkable story of achievement, adversity, and triumph over adversity.  Her efforts on this solo row will see her through 90 to 100 days rowing alone, without a support team across the ocean for approximately 2,500 miles.

Angela an accomplished ocean rower with 6 Guinness World Records for rowing oceans but this will be her first time doing it solo. She has also represented the U.S. at the Paralympics and recently brought home the Bronze Medal, competing in the shot put, from the 2012 London Games.

Carey Appel
Carey began belting her melodic tunes off of her backyard balcony at the early age of three.  “Such a grown up voice for such a little girl” was most often heard.  Grammar and high school musicals abounded until a coach skipped over her for “Fiddler on the Roof”.  Carey gave up music during college and after graduating from UC Berkeley, followed in the family tradition of retail. She opened a chain of gift and home stores, though singing was always her first love.

With a personal life-changing event, this captivating performer and soulful storyteller returned to the music community in 2011 with her first album. “New Favorites”.  Her company, (aptly named Heather Road for the street she grew up on), produced the album of aurally seductive vocals influenced by Melody Gardot, Patti Griffin, Cheryl Wheeler and Judith Owen.

She has since teamed up with artist and producer Lisa Nemzo of Dream Wild Records -(Bonnie Raitt, David Crosby, Heart, Ray Charles, Hall & Oates;), who produced her newest album  in Nashville in 2012.- “House of Cards” demonstrates Carey’s innate passion and musical finesse, a collection of diverse and riveting acoustic singer/songwriter and rock arrangements with a sophisticated folk flair. It is an intimate and compelling journey to finding one’s own empowerment – where listeners may even hear a piece of their own story woven into Appel’s candidly-written lyrics. The themes contained in Carey’s writing mirror some of our inner most secrets fused with heartwarming honesty; her rich vocals narrating stories from a bittersweet past to an encouraging future.

The Wicked Saints
Raw organic music with NO artificial sweeteners. It’s GOOD for you!

“Our slogan isn’t completely true,” says Wicked Saints lead singer Paul McCarty. “Some is slightly toxic.” Wicked Saints’ music is a cool eclectic mix of styles – from folk-rock, americana, swampy Louisiana grooves to reggae styled pop/blues, a driving beat, or sweet and heartfelt.

Wicked Saints’ second album, Don’t Kill The Blackbird, is nearly complete, and the pre-release EP is out with seven tracks. It’s co-produced by Paul McCarty and Brad Swanson. In addition to Paul, John, Chad and Bobby, featured artists will again include Brent Michelle and David Vidal, as well as guitarist Peter DiStefano (Porno for Pyros, Lance Herbstrong), Abby Posner (Fiddle & Pine) and Ken Leiboff on banjo, some percussion and drums by producer Brad Swanson, singers Michael Ann, Melody Guy, Jordi Faria, and Justine Willis. Their debut CD was partly produced, recorded and mixed by Annie Miles at Studio MRM formerly known as Milestone Recording & Post in Los Angeles (Walkin’ On The Water, The Way I’m Strung, Nothing To See, Died Along The Way & Mama), and the rest recorded at David Vidal’s studio, Wilmac Studio by Max Vidal, and mixed by David Williams at Melrose Music Studios.

Paul McCarty sings lead, and plays guitar and harmonica. He was raised in a musical family in the musical city of New Orleans, and was a music composition major at Loyola University of New Orleans with a background in indie film scoring. He currently holds the record for most mentions of music in his bio.

Although folk-influenced, his songs seek stranger directions melodically, harmonically and lyrically, sometimes drawing upon his childhood influences like Neil Young, Gordon Lightfoot and Led Zeppelin, and sometimes resorting to some college-knowledge. “I almost always start with a groove and a melody and then fit words into the melody. Each individual song might have it’s own message. For example, Todd Palin should leave his wife, or Paul will never have a successful relationship, or Be kind to blackbirds.”

Born in New Orleans, Paul is a lifelong Saints fan, thus the band name.“New Orleans has a great musical tradition as everyone knows. I’m less influenced by it than you would think I am, but more influenced by it than I think I am.”

John Gannon, Wicked Saints’ drummer, has dubbed himself the most oxymoronic Wicked Saint. Beyond that, however, he gives the band a real range of character, from a cool groove with a light touch, or a train-beat, even a strong Bonhamesque beat.

But hand him a guitar and he’ll tell you a story of his own. Honed from years of campfire singing, John brings a great energy to the microphone and holds your attention. John’s narratives might leave you laughing or bring a tear to a glass eye. Check out his songs here. youtube.com/yuppiecampfire.

Brent Michelle graced the album with her beautiful soulful background vocals, but when she picks up the guitar and plays a set of her own music you’ll be drawn in. Brent’s relatable lyrics expose the truth behind untold thoughts. She tells stories of her own life and others dear to her. There’s nothing she loves more than performing in front of the energy of an audience. That is where she finds inspiration to keep pursuing her art.

Joel Kellum is an intellectual property rights lawyer in Los Angeles, CA. He has a deep love of music. Having forged a friendship with J.P. Richardson Jr., the Big Bopper’s son, they are working together to make this dream a reality.

Don McLean wrote “American Pie” as a tribute to Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and the great Big Bopper, who died tragically in a plane crash on their way to a show during their Winter Party Dance Tour on Feb 3, 1959.

Three brilliant young musical artists were lost that day, leaving behind legacies that were cut too short. How much incredible music did the world not get to hear because of a coin flip that put them on that plane and not the tour bus?

We have a chance to imagine. In the wreckage of the plane was a briefcase. Inside the briefcase was the Big Bopper’s composition notebook, with lyrics to 20 new songs – his next few albums, which he would never get to record.

Marc Platt

Talented guitarist, prolific songwriter, and down-to earth human being. These are just a few terms to describe Marc Platt, a Los Angeles-based, singer-songwriter who is making a difference in the lives of other musicians.

Platt’s experience in the music business goes back to the early 80s, first as an artist and then as an employee of Rhino Records, back when the record label was in its infant stages. By the mid 80s, Platt had returned to performing full-time and formed the band, The Real Impossibles. Their 1986 EP, “Play Loud” was produced by Plimsouls’ (“Million Miles Away”) front-man, Peter Case and The Real Impossibles video, “Turn My World” was featured on MTV that same year.

More recently, Platt’s songs have been featured on TV shows such as Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, E-News True Hollywood, and Passions. He continues to write music for a variety of TV shows.

Nick Drake ~ (Wikipedia)
Nicholas Rodney “Nick” Drake (19 June 1948 – 25 November 1974) was an English singer-songwriter and musician, known for his gentle guitar-based songs. He failed to find a wide audience during his lifetime but his work has gradually achieved wider notice and recognition.[2][3][4] Drake signed to Island Records when he was 20 years old and a student at the University of Cambridge, and released his debut album, Five Leaves Left, in 1969. By 1972, he had recorded two more albums—Bryter Layter and Pink Moon. Neither sold more than 5,000 copies on initial release.[5] Drake’s reluctance to perform live, or be interviewed, contributed to his lack of commercial success.

Drake suffered from depression, particularly during the latter part of his life. This was often reflected in his lyrics. On completion of his third album, 1972′s Pink Moon, he withdrew from both live performance and recording, retreating to his parents’ home in rural Warwickshire. There is no known footage of the adult Drake; he was only ever captured in still photographs and in home footage from his childhood.[6] On 25 November 1974, Drake died from an overdose of amitriptyline, a prescribed antidepressant; he was 26 years old. Whether his death was an accident or suicide has never been resolved.

A Dog aka Annikhan

Started off in Milwaukee petty hustlin, never really hung with the young dumb dumbs even though I was one… never really took music as a life long journey thing (even though I was drawn to it) and was introduced to 88keys, I heard a beat for the first time and my whole head filled with words, I couldn’t fight this feeling. It was like something was being drawn out of me…. I left out and sat in the car and wrote my first poem slash rap lol. The next day I read it to my old heads and they quoted bars that I said and said I had a Nas flow :0…this was my first rap…I knew what my calling was and saw the outcome in some kind of daydream NO BS. I’ve grown into my style and continue to show growth.

When people see the stage name A Dog aka Annikhan bka Your Excellency the first thing that is asked is what does it mean. A is the nickname and A Dog is really saying Im a dog, in other words mans best friend, loyalty, protector, that person who will be by your side at all times out in this cold world. Annikhan is the other half of me taken from the movie Star wars (but spelled differently) going with the story line of having good intentions to save through this dream but ultimately having to choose whats right and wrong through my eyes. Your Excellency is these two entities as one, when coming into power you must be even tempered and just….these two
balance out.

The goal for me as an artist is to become successful and profitable for one reason and one reason only……to reach the masses and change the tide to create balance in an industry that has become more negative than positive. Money is part of the motive because it has to be in order to pursue my passion full time. You will rarely hear profanity, you will never hear the talk of drug use or the slandering of women in my songs not just because I think its wrong but to set an example to the people who are most important…. the innocent/children! Im not here to judge because we are only human and will make mistakes but the biggest part of the message I give is striving to free yourself from the vices that grip you in life….. ~If I Had One Lane Consider It The Runway…Take Flight~

Dave Wielenga

Dave has been covering Greater Long Beach since 1972, when as a 16-year-old student at Bellflower High he became a $2-an-hour copy boy in the sports department of the Long Beach Press-Telegram. He’s never really left home—well, not counting those mysterious years in Mexico, anyway—because during a 40-years-and-counting career he just keeps finding this place so damn fascinating.

Dave’s prize-winning work has appeared in magazines as diverse as Rolling Stone, US Weekly, Modern Maturity, Sports Illustrated and Vibe, as well as newspapers from the Los Angeles Times to the Washington Post. He’s received awards for investigations, features, news, entertainment and sports from the Associated Press, Los Angeles Press Club, Orange County Press Club and Association of Alternative Newsweeklies. When he did leave town—the country, in fact–the university students of Tecnologico de Monterrey in Mazatlan voted him Teacher of the Year. Just sayin’.

Dave spent 23 years at the Press-Telegram, covering USC, UCLA, the Rams and the Angels—as well as high schools, Rose Bowls, Super Bowls and two Olympics Games—then moving through features, entertainment, news and investigations before taking a buyout when the paper slashed its staff in 1995. Dave served on the staffs of three so-called “alternative” weeklies—New Times Los Angeles, OC Weekly and the late, great District Weekly.

He’s passionate about the importance of an independent press, especially here in Greater Long Beach. “The best gift anybody can give Long Beach,” he says, “is to tell it the truth.”

Michelle Mangione

A familiar face in the Los Angeles music scene, Mangione first polished her chops playing drums for such greats as saxophonist Buddy Collette and guitarist Robben Ford. An accomplished drummer by age 16, Mangione taught herself to play guitar, bass and piano while growing up in Los Angeles. She studied under legendary jazz drummer Kay Carlson before going on to graduate at a young age from Percussion Institute of Technology in Hollywood. She later taught at PIT and then became a successful road musician.

Songwriter and acclaimed drummer Michelle Mangione recently released “The Edge of Madness.” The single, which is her second collaboration with rock icon Grace Slick (formerly of Jefferson Airplane) was chosen as one of Rolling Stone Magazine’s “Top Singles” in November, and can be downloaded from iTunes,  where proceeds will be donated to victims of the latest Gulf Coast disaster. Slick, who describes Mangione as “…a gifted artist and poetic songwriter” also contributed lyrics to two of the songs on Michelle’s second CD “What is a Saint”, and in 2007 the rock legend-turned-painter provided the cover art for Mangione’s critically acclaimed debut CD Life Beneath the Sun after hearing a demo version of the album.

Exene Cervenka

A true renaissance woman, Exene is a singer, artist and poet whose work traverses virtually every aspect of those disciplines. She is known for her work as singer for the legendary punk band X as well as The Knitters and The Original Sinners.

Best known as the singer for X, one of the leaders of the late-’70s/early-’80s California punk explosion, Exene Cervenka has also issued solo albums, launched several side bands, and penned books. Although Cervenka has been closely associated with California, she grew up primarily in Tallahassee, FL, before relocating to Santa Monica, CA, during the summer of 1976. Through a local poetry workshop, Cervenka met John Doe, and the seeds of what would eventually become X were planted. With both sharing vocal duties (and Doe doubling on bass), Doe’s friend Billy Zoom supplied guitar in a Duane Eddy style and was soon followed by the arrival of drummer D.J. Bonebrake, resulting in the birth of X in 1977.

Toaster Music
Toaster Music is an improvisational electronica duo focused primarily on live performance, especially in collaboration with visual artists.  We frequently perform in costume, and use video projections, to evoke a post-apocalyptic techno-centric atmosphere.  Music ranges from gently evolving ambience to raging dub-step madness.  We also embrace collaboration, and have performed with others on occasion.

Toaster Music is Sumako, an experimental visual and musical artist who combines a variety of beats, samples, synthesized textures, and occasionally his beautiful, custom made, Fernandez Fretless Guitar.

Sander Roscoe Wolff brings decades of production and performance experience to the table, using vintage synths, and heavily processed lap steel guitar, to create beautiful and terrible sonoroties.

Weaving the Past: Journey of Discovery is a documentary about a family mystery and one man’s journey to find the answers. It’s journey that leads him into a labyrinth of self-reflection as he discovers a past he never knew existed; a time of suffering and courage, of violence and idealism, of revolution and death…. and redemption.

Filmmaker Walter Dominguez finds himself at a crossroads in his life, wondering how to find a new path and regain his sense of purpose. A mysterious photograph connected to his late beloved Mexican-born grandfather Emilio, a kindly and saintly minister who influenced Walter’s life, leads Walter to embark on a quest to unearth answers to enigmas and mysteries surrounding Emilio’s early life.

But what Walter discovers is a dark side of his grandfather’s life that he had no inkling existed, and it turns his perceptions about his grandfather upside down.

He learns Emilio was an anarchist revolutionary, befriended and mentored by a famous Mexican revolutionary named Praxedis G. Guerrero. And that Emilio and Praxedis together were involved in conspiratorial, even violent activities based from the United States against the dictator of Mexico, Porfirio Díaz, activities that helped precipitate the cataclysmic ten year Mexican Revolution.

The documentary traces Walter’s odyssey as he puts the pieces of the puzzle together, the puzzle of how conditions in Emilio’s tragic early life, and in Mexico as a whole, brought him together with Praxedis and motivated their fiery opposition to Díaz; and of how Emilio transformed from a radical anarchist into a Methodist minister, dedicated to changing human conditions through peaceful, non-violent means.

Traveling throughout the U.S. and Mexico, interviewing family elders and American and Mexican historians, locating places and people connected to Emilio’s early life, and eventually discovering Emilio’s long-lost relatives in a mountain village in Mexico, who provide the missing pieces of information to make sense of Emilio’s motives and his life’s mission, Walter himself gradually changes. In the end, having discovered how his grandfather found meaning and redemption for himself, Walter finds renewal of his life and a vision for the future

Jey Ahr

Ronnie “Jey Ahr” Woods is an up and coming hip-hop artist Born and Raised in Long Beach, California. The spelling of his stage name is just one thing that makes him different. Pronounced J.R. but spelled Jey Ahr meaning “Just Ron”, although very different it is also very straightforward. This quite simply is the best way to describe him and his music.

He fell in love with the hip-hop culture at a very young age with influences like Notorious B.I.G, Tupac Shakur, and Rakim just to name a few. He began writing rhymes with his cousin Derrion “Spadez” Woods. Together with help from older brother Lamaur “Big L Mar” Woods and family friend Charles “Rayon” Jennings they formed, what was then known as AUE (Artist United Entertainment). This grouping of young men furthered his love for music and inspired him more to grow as an artist.

In 2006 Jey Ahr learned that he was about to become a father so, he put his aspirations on hold and joined the military to be able to support his family. After a few years of putting his passion on hold Jey Ahr could no longer resist. He began writing and recording with his friend James Bryant. Together they formed the group Fam Bam.

Now as a solo artist Jey Ahr is coming at the world full force, ready to give it his all. When asked by spectators, what made you really get into music? A very confident Jey Ahr replies, “I knew I could be better than the people that were out then, and I still feel that way now.” Although some may perceive this as cocky when you listen to his music you will see that it is just pure confidence.

In a time where hip-hop is full of generic rhymes, dance instructions, and jokes this young man bring something very different to the mic. His lyrics and delivery are like a breath of fresh air. With lines in his music like, “I go through it I don’t just rhyme this s**t”, it is made very evident that the lyrics that he spits are real and come from his very own life experiences. That very line taken from his single “Cali Breeze” is followed by “They say I’m lucky that I made it, I say naw I’m blessed, these lines just shows that Jey Ahr is grounded and knows where he wants to go. With his head on straight, drive to make it, focus, passion and a dynamic work ethic Jey Ahr is sure to become a star.

Angela Madsen

My Name is Angela Madsen and I am an accomplished ocean rower with 6 Guinness World Records for rowing oceans. I am going to row a solo ocean rowing boat with no support boat from California to Hawaii.  What this means is that I will stay on my little boat the entire time, no one will give me any food or water, I will have to have enough provisions on board to sustain my life for as long as the journey takes.  I will row as many hours a day as I possibly can and will try not to drift too far off course while I sleep.  It begins with the idea followed by logistical planning, purchase, the shipping and outfitting of a solo rowing boat; I will start this rowing expedition Memorial Day weekend, May 31, 2013 from Rainbow Harbor in Long Beach, California or other suitable coastal location and will be rowing approximately 2,500 miles to Honolulu, Hawaii. It is a tribute row to Veterans of all services and to Spirited Adventurer and friend Orlando Rogers who was tragically killed in a plane crash on May 15th 2011. He was 26 years of age and was a Royal Marine. Orlando was very supportive of me and all of my projects and he was very excited about my intentions to do a solo row so as I make my plans I think it would be fitting to make my row a tribute to honor his memory. He wanted and planned on being there for me as he was on the Circumnavigation of Great Britain. Though it will not be the same, he will be there with me for every rowing stroke and every nautical mile. Orlando was a very special and amazing person. The name of my boat shall be The Spirit of Orlando. Through creation of a pledge page and donate button I will be raising money for a veterans charity that is yet to be determined.

It is an ambitious plan but I am a paraplegic who rows across oceans. It seems rather normal to me. I am open to connections made through social media and networking to find partners or sponsors for this event so please share my story, my contact info, have a fundraiser for my project 2013 Para Solo Row.

Angela recently set a world record in the shot put at the Desert Challenge Games in Mesa, Arizona and also be competed in the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London.

Anthony Davis

Anthony Davis was born in Huntsville, Texas. He later moved to Southern California where he became a multi-sport star in high school. Davis was the Co-Los Angeles player of the year in Football, won the city wrestling title, and was named the City Player of the year in Baseball.

At USC Davis become a featured ball carrier the last 6 games of the 1972 season. He amazingly managed 1,191 yards and 17 touchdowns at season’s end. With stats such as these, Anthony cemented himself as one of the greatest rushers in PAC-8 and NCAA history.

A two-time First Team All-Conference pick, he became the first player in PAC-8 history to rush for at least 1,000 yards in three individual seasons. A two-time recipient of the Voit Trophy as the Most Outstanding Player on the West Coast, Davis led USC in rushing, scoring and kick return yardage for three consecutive seasons. He still ranks third on USC’s career rushing chart (3,724 yards), and he set an NCAA record with 6 scoring kickoff returns in his career, including 3 in 1974.

Well known as the greatest kickoff return man in college football history, Davis averaged 36.6 yards per kickoff. He is long remembered for scoring 11 touchdowns in three games against Notre Dame.

Anthony Davis’ talents weren’t just limited to football; he was also successful in baseball. He was an outfielder and switch-hitter on USC’s 1972, 1973 and 1974 College World Series champion baseball teams. Playing with wood bats at the time, Davis hit .273 with 6 home runs, 45 RBIs and 13 stolen bases for the Trojan’s 1974 National Championship Baseball team.

During his Trojan career, Davis won five National Championships – two in football, three in baseball. As a two-sport standout, Davis holds the distinction of being the only player in school history to start for a National Champion Football team (1972) and a National Champion Baseball team (1974).

ACIDIC

Last fall, ACIDIC unleashed their latest album, the highly-anticipated “Chronic Satisfaction,” to wild and enthusiastic response! The CD is produced by multi-platinum award-winning producer John Ryan (Styx, Santana, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, etc) of Chicago Kid Productions. Stacy Lupinacci

Stacy believes we all started on our spiritual journey many moons ago to grow spiritually. Some of her toughest experiences started at a very young age, which she is now grateful for, knowing that she had to experience these various events to effectively help others to stay on their spiritual path with a positive outlook.

At the age of 19 she began having dreams, and with uncanny accuracy, they came to pass. This gave way for her ability to pick up on other peoples various energies known as being empathic. This started Stacy on her spiritual journey connecting with her healing abilities, intuitiveness and empathic gifts, which has grown immensely over the years. Not only is Stacy is certified in Reiki Level 2 and a Spiritual Coach, but also currently writing book about the abuse she encountered as a child.

Stacy’s goal is to bring heightened awareness about abuse of all types to the world through her experiences and those of others. In addition to her book, she has also written numerous articles and is devoted to helping to find a cure for Intracranial Hypertension, a condition in which Stacy and many more like her deal with on a daily basis.

Stacy Lupinacci gets her message out to the world by hosting two popular radio shows, The Positive Side on BlogTalk Radio, and Morning Coffee with Tanya and Stacy on Ztalk Radio. Her soul mission in life is to help others, work with animals, experience worldly anomalies, and help the world through healing, light and love.

Mean And Nasty is an American Hip Hop recording artist and music producer. Born on September 10 in Cleveland, OH, Manny Brooks, known professionally as Mean And Nasty, moved to California and established himself as a producer and rapper. He has built a small but loyal fan base with releases such as The Ghetto Soundtrack and The Taste Of Revenge, and also established GSC Records which has distributed releases like Ale-Jhay – Bring The Noise and Work For No One.

a fusion of soul, 90′s hip hop with a dash of lifestyle rap, artist ale-jhay strive’s to educate and promote self-awareness for his generation of early 90′s kids. In a industry that seems constricted by generic content and repetitive trends ale-jhay brings a fresh perspective on music with his lyrics.
