Artist, Musicians, and Performers We Want You!

Are you an artist, musician, or performer (Artists)? Have you participated in a Southern California artwalk or similar event? We would like to invite you to participate as a guest on our next show.

On Wednesday, August 18, 2010, @ 9pm (PST) Swoop’s World Radio will be discussing “The Business of Art”. We will be exploring events from the view of the Artists that set up to sell and perform with the hopes of gaining recognition and turning a profit.

Together we can learn what makes a successful event for the Artists. We’ll discover which events are successful and how to assure that certain criteria’s are in place so that any event has the maximum potential to benefit the participants as well as the organizers. Read more »

This Week Photographer Donna Santisi and The Boys From LB Food Review

On Wednesday August 4, 2010 at 9:00 pm (PST), we are happy to have Photographer Donna Santisi join us this week as we take a look at her new book, “Ask The Angels”. Tune in as we learn what life was like capturing the L.A. Punk scene at some of the most storied clubs during the 1970’s. Donna shot pictures of and got to many of the artist she shot, including Patti Smith, Joan Jett, X, the Ramones, Blondie, and the Go-Go’s to name a few.

Also the stomachs behind LB Food Review, Chris Livingston and Taylor Nelson, our partners in fun and food join us again. A segment that is sure to be abounding with laughter.

Going for the Gold in Long Beach With Powerhouse Fitness, a U.S. Olympian, and LB Food Review

This Wednesday night at 9pm (PST), on Swoop’s World Radio, we have Jack Nunn, owner of Powerhouse Fitness, his dad, U.S. Olympian John Nunn and the guys from LB Food Review.

Jack Nunn started rowing in 1996 for Long Beach Juniors and made the 1997 U.S. Junior National Team Selection Camp. He attended UC Berkeley, winning four Pac-10 Championships and three National Championships in rowing. He was a member of the first ever undefeated Pac-10 and National Champion Freshman 8 in 1998 and repeated the feat by going unbeaten in 1999. Jack also played two seasons with the Cal Ice Hockey Team before graduating in 2001. Read more »

Each day our city is faced with numerous challenges concerning our water, from shortages, to polluted runoff from the LA River, hazards associated with the Port, or preservation of our wetlands. This Week Vice Mayor Val Lerch Interview January 20

Vice Mayor Val Lerch, 9th District Council Member, will appear on Swoop’s World Radio Wednesday, January 20, at 9 P.M. Mr. Lerch will be the second City Council Member to visit the relatively new Long Beach radio broadcast, following Council Member Tonia Reyes Uranga who appeared on December 30th.

Vice Mayor Lerch is expected to discuss a variety of topics related to the 9th District as well as all of Long Beach including Mayor Foster’s recent State of The City Address.

“Interviewing the Vice Mayor is another step towards our goal of keeping the citizens of Long Beach informed and our leaders accessible. It’s fantastic that members of our city council are willing to come on our show, answer our questions, and listeners calls and questions as well,” said co-host Peter Dopulos. Read more »
